1968 Triumph Bonneville Restoration Project

1968 TRIUMPH BONNEVILLE RESTORATION PROJECT
John Manki, of Wisconsin & his son, Derek, plan to do a complete restoration on this '68 Bonneville. As you can see, it's in the early stages. Here's what he writes:

"I enclosed a picture of how it looks the day I rolled it into our garage. I have the rest of it in boxes and we are trying inventory it now. I know I am missing the complete exhaust and the oil tank but I think those are the only really big chunks missing. We are missing a bunch of hardware though. We plan to do an original restoration so I am going to start digging through the data to get a list going of missing hardware and other parts.

When my son gets here this weekend for Christmas, we are going to roll it down into the basement shop and start tearing it down. Since it is now winter here and the motorcycles go away and the snowmobiles come out, doing it in the basement is a hell of a lot warmer than doing it in an unheated garage.

We'll check back with John from time to time and see how his 1968 Triumph Bonneville Restoration Project is going. Hopefully that garage will heat up enough to get some work done. I found that it's much easier to get out there and work on your bike when you have a buddy helping. Now you have an obligation, he's coming over to help, which means you've gotta work on it now. Great way to discipline yourself to do the things you must. And when you're done, hopefully his bike will be running you guys can go our riding together.
