1973 Triumph Bonneville

by Dan Davis
(New Brunswick Canada)

Bought this bike in 1975 with 1,200 miles on it. I drove it for 8 years then put it into storage. I got it back on the road in 2003 after replacing the charging system with solid state components and installing an electronic ignition system (still have the original parts). I drove it for 4 years it was very reliable, then I bought a bigger bike, put the Bonneville back into storage, but I still start it every year and drive it around the block as I always did before when I stored it. The tank still has the original factory paint. I would like to somehow get it appraised to see what it is worth and find out if it should be registered or classified as an antique and how I do that. Years ago I was told that it is a 1972 leftover but was registered and sold as a 1973.

I owned that bike in 1973-74, and sold it from where i was living on St-Hubert street(North part of Montréal). The high-rise handle and the foot-rest were added by me after i bough it from a citizen at Greenfield town on the southshore of Montréal,I was escorted by two friends pro-riders(a telephon thecnician & a police officier),i was very proud riding on this Triumph Bonneville 1973
