Hello everyone and welcome to the First Issue of Classic-British-Motorcycles.com's "Brit Iron". In it, and future issues, I will attempt to share with you the best of what I see and do in my travels for this website. It seems that I've been spending an inordinate amount of time at Classic Motorcycle Auctions, Shows, at Owners' Club Meetings, or on incredible Rides. All of this is done, mind you, in the call of duty. My website is hungry for content. Tough job, but someone's gotta' do it, right?

CBM's Project Bike, our 1979 Triumph T140D Bonneville Special on display at the Quail Motorcycle Gathering.

The Quail Motorcycle Gathering is a Classic Motorcycle Concourse d'Elegance, Show, Auction & Ride. It took place at the beautiful Quail Lodge Country Club in Carmel Valley, California under absolutely perfect weather conditions, on Friday & Saturday, May 13 & 14. Friday was the Quail Ride with some 100 vintage bikes riding a 120-mile loop through the Carmel Valley that ended with a 'touring lap' on Laguna Seca-Mazda Raceway. I filmed it all with my new Helmet Cam & will have an edited video on YouTube very soon. The Show & Auction were on Saturday & the number, variety & quality of the bikes was nothing short of stunning, especially on the golf course. The legendary "Bathing Suit Bike" (1948 Vincent Black Lightning, the first bike to break 150mph on the Salt) was there, along with one of Steve McQueen's old dirt bikes & tons more cool stuff, way too much to mention.
