This BSA Goldstar 500 SS B50, was a US Import, Low mileage, in fair condition, it was as its reputation is a poor starter, I fitted electronic ignition to it but it did not improve the starting. I put the poor starting of this model down to the angle of the carburettor it slopes forward, so as soon as you flood it to start, the petrol runs into the cylinder bore and wets the spark plug. If you have one or are getting one, get a thick insulating gasket and taper it down to fit between the cylinder head and carburettor so the carburettor is vertical. The bike when running is nice and light, flexible, clutch heavy, front brake heavy and poor stopping when compared to my 1973 Daytona also beware of it kicking back many a broken foot/leg. It sounds muffled when you riding it, but great when heard when its being ridden by someone else lots of street cred. I sold this bike another mistake so I shall get another one soon.
