Triumph Daytona 1974
by Tom Wilson
Beautiful and a stunning looking bike, just saw this one advertised and had to have it. I missed the sale of the sister to it a few months before (lesson learned). The chap who was selling the sister to it sold it while I was traveling to see it. This one was also a USA export model (returned home).
When I saw this one advertised I phoned the chap selling it a paid him without even seeing the bike......and I do not regret it its stunning.
I have owned quite a few Daytona's but this is the best yet,its like no other Triumph I have ridden its so quiet, sweet, almost vibration free, so smooth and civilized, this is possibly due to it having the Emissions pack fitted to it (a late export requirement for the USA) being quieter silencers, Alloy barrels and different jetting/slides etc for the carburetor. This has totally transformed the Daytona from what is normally (in my experience) quite a noisy, sporty crude but much fun machine, its hard to believe the character of the Daytona can be changed with so few factory mods, if they still made this model today it would still sell in its thousands, gorgeous and the best colours ever!.
